Registration fees reflect initial registration for skater/player, and covers all operating costs of the association and a base amount of practice ice. In addition, Last year the EHA began adding the estimated tournament fees, as well as an ice payment to cover any additional ice that the association is able to secure for each level to the registration fees. This was done to remove this collection burden from the team manager’s responsibilities, and allow families to pay for the bulk of their hockey costs via credit card, and in three installments.
The fee amount is calculated using the blended rate of tournaments and the ice provided by EHA for the teams at that level in previous years. These are charges that in the past have been assessed to teams in November and January of the hockey season, and collected by the team managers. In an effort to give families the opportunity to split these payments over the season, and use a credit card to pay them, we again have included them in the registration fee. After the initial registration amount, the remaining amount for your level will be automatically charged on November 15, 2011 and January 15, 2012. EXCEPTION: (Jr Gold/U16 and Girls 19U will be December 15 and February 15). Of course, you continue to have the option to pay the entire amount up front. EHA has made every effort to arrive at a reasonable ”estimate” of ice fees for each level.
We do reserve the right to charge an additional assessment to a team if the amount of ice received is greater than that estimate used to calculate the fee. Conversely, teams will receive a credit if the amount of ice was less than the registration estimate. Teams may also charge additional team fees throughout the season for additional ice, parties, scrapbooks etc. These fees should be agreed upon and approved by all members of the team. Feedback regarding this billing approach was overwhelmingly favorable last year.
We continue to believe that it gives families a better up-front estimate of the total cost, greater flexibility of payment, and elimination of the large collection responsibilities of the team manager.
